As we mark our 30th anniversary, Jefferson Regional Medical Center provides
medical excellence in more than 40 specialties of care for the communities
of southwestern Pennsylvania. Our focus on quality and patient safety
continues to earn attention from quality organizations.
In 2005, 2006 and 2007, HealthGrades, Inc. rated the overall vascular
services at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in the top five percent in
the nation, the best in Pittsburgh and number one in Pennsylvania for 2007.
The cardiac surgery program has earned a number of awards, most recently a
HealthGrades Specialty Excellence AwardTM for 2007.
In 2006 and 2007, VHA (Voluntary Hospital Association) recognized Jefferson
Regional for eliminating central line bloodstream infections in the
cardiovascular unit.
I encourage you to browse our web site and review the recent history of awards
earned by Jefferson Regional Medical Center and the annual progress report.
We have achieved many milestones since opening Jefferson Hospital in 1977.
You have responded to the services we provide with your support and loyalty.
We continue to provide the services that will enable us to meet the health
care needs of the surrounding communities. In recent years, we purchased a
64-slice CT scanner, built a new pharmacy, expanded the emergency department
and added an inpatient MRI. We added services such as radiation oncology,
a Stroke Care Center and Congestive Heart Failure Clinic. Since 2002, we have
performed more than 2,000 open-heart procedures. We operate three cardiac
catheterization labs and perform more than 3,500 cardiac catheterizations each year.
We are moving more services into the communities, too. In addition to our
outreach programs that allow health care professionals to go into assisted
living and personal care homes, we have a regular presence in local shopping
complexes to provide free health screenings. We opened a Cardiopulmonary
Wellness Center in Pleasant Hills, and added outpatient diagnostic imaging
services in Homestead and at the Jefferson Medical Arts Building on Coal
Valley Road. Most recently, we opened an outpatient testing center on
Route 51, north of our hospital.
It is our vision that our communities will have confidence that Jefferson
Regional Medical Center will be available for them in times of need,
providing superior care and service, and working to improve the health
of the region. We will continue to work toward exceeding your
expectations in everything we do.
